
Dr. Elaine Briggs is ANCC-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is a former Certified Emergency Nurse. She has experience in primary care and family practice and has conducted assessments for veterans with disabilities. Additionally, she has worked in University Student Health and Women's Health. Most recently, she has focused on telemedicine, providing urgent care, family practice, psychiatric care, and substance abuse counseling.

Dr. Briggs strongly believes in giving back to her profession and is a virtual professor, educating nurse practitioners, across the United States for Chamberlain University, (Downers Grove, Illinois) Maryville University, (St Louis, Missouri) and Indiana Wesleyan (Marion, Indiana).
Dr. Briggs is originally from Waterloo, Illinois where she began her nursing career in 1979 as a Licensed Practical Nurse in home care and long-term care. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing through East Central College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Lincoln University. Dr. Briggs graduated from St Louis University, with her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Family Nurse Practitioner / Nurse Educator and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) through Capella University.
Dr. Briggs finds the assessment and diagnosing of patients to be the most exciting part of being a nurse practitioner. She has published case studies including “The Case of the Cutaneous Quandary”, in the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal. Her practice change model can be found in the Virginia Henderson Global Nursing e-Repository entitled “Decreasing blood pressure readings using a patient-centered interprofessional team approach” also published at the 18th International Conference for Nursing & Healthcare.
When Dr. Briggs is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, attending her grandson’s soccer games, e-games, and music events. She also loves ballroom dancing, kayaking, and exploring state and national parks.
